In December 2021, Mike Costa took on the position as PCTPA’s Senior Transportation Planner and was promoted to Principal Transportation Planner in December 2023. Mike primarily assists with the short- and long-range transportation and transit planning, and fund programming efforts. He also serves as lead staff support for the Western Placer Consolidated Transportation Services Agency (WPCTSA). Prior to coming on board, Mike served as the Transit System Manager for the City of Elk Grove. His passion is helping bring transportation opportunities to communities that need it the most and providing transportation alternatives to this region.  During his spare time, Mike enjoys hiking in the Auburn Ravine, wine tasting in the Sierra Nevada foothills, relaxing on the shores of Lake Tahoe or somewhere in the California Central Coast, as well as traveling both within the country and internationally. Mike is looking forward to working on developing a short-range transit plan for Placer County’s transit operators and assisting with a marketing plan to help promote those public transit services in the Placer County region. He sees PCTPA benefitting the community in many ways including connecting all partnering cities, towns, and County agencies with federal and state financial resources, helping establish a coordinated planning approach, and maintaining and building local and regional transportation networks for all.
