Phase 1 of the Placer Parkway Corridor Preservation Project was to identify a reasonable range of alternatives. These corridor alignment alternatives are analyzed in Phase 2 – the Tier 1 Environmental Impact Statement/ Program Environmental Impact Report (Tier 1 EIS/EIR).

Beginning in May 2003, the project team worked through an extensive technical and public review process to identify, analyze, and recommend a reasonable range of alternatives for Tier 1 EIS/EIR evaluation.  See PUBLIC OUTREACH for more detail on public input and agency coordination.

On September 28, 2005, the SPRTA Board accepted the Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) recommendations, which identified five corridor alignment alternatives. The 2 ˝-year corridor alignment alternatives identification process is summarized in the:

Alternatives Development Summary Report (September 2005)

Five Recommended Corridor Alignment Alternatives – Draft for SPRTA Approval

In addition to these five ‘build’ corridor alignment alternatives, the Tier 1 EIS/EIR also analyses a “No Build” alternative.  Work with federal resource agencies determined that there are no “avoidance” alternatives. See ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW for more detail on this resource agency coordination.

See PROJECT LIBRARY for documents (such as the following), which detail the corridor alternatives identification work:
